AAA Program
From September through May of every year, NCC’s AAA After School Tutoring Program operates five days a week for the duration of the school year.  We focus on our children’s spiritual and academic enrichment as well as creatively incorporating the arts to develop and encourage creative skills.  Retired certified public school teachers lead our programs along with help from tutors and committed volunteers.  Students receive assistance with homework, academic enrichment drills and exercises to improve math skills.  Students receive increased technological skills through daily access to a computer lab and time set aside for increased reading and literacy development.  Once a week, students also receive instruction in the arts through NCC’s partnership with local visual artists, dancers, musicians and writers from within our community.
Weekly Tutoring Around Town
From September through May of every year, NCC provides weekly tutoring throughout Jackson, most site locations are local churches.  Church members, college students, and many working adults as well as retired, come together to offer assistance each week.

NCC Prep
Created specifically for the needs of K-2nd graders, NCC Prep acts as a practical solution to the underdeveloped skills of young children in our community as they prepare to enter kindergarten.  During this program we spend 5 weeks every summer providing developmentally appropriate experiences to enhance a child's intellectual, social, emotional, spiritual and physical development through fun, hands-on activities.

*Students in these summer programs receive academic instruction 7 hours a day, 5 days a week for 5 weeks as well as a healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks on a daily basis.  In addition to academics, we teach our students practical life skills and well as exposing them to a variety of speakers from our community in order to provide a variety of influences for each child.*
Super Stars
Every summer, NCC provides instruction in Bible Study, academic enrichment, to at-risk children (grades 3rd-12th.) for a period of 5 weeks.  Every year, certified public school teachers, teacher’s assistants and volunteers come together to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through building  relationships with over 100 students (and their parents) through active participation in academics, athletics and the arts.

Hearts for Arts
A two week performing arts camp for at-risk youth is held every summer at Belhaven College as part of a partnership with the Belhaven Theatre Academy.  This camp for 6th – 12th graders, maintains an enrollment of over 50 students every year. Students are taught new skills and exposed to new opportunities through instruction in drama, music, dance and stage production.  At the end of the two weeks, students showcase their talents by performing a full length musical for the community.

Friday Music

Mr. Marshall Magee provides music instruction to the children at NCC's Ash Street Center every Friday.  This is a good time for all the children to participate and enjoy singing and music on a regular basis.
Christmas

Consider becoming a Christmas box packer!
or Adopt-a-Family for Christmas!

Who receives Christmas boxes? Around 350 families!

The holiday season is particularly important because it allows us a special time to foster relationships with the families of the children in our programs as well as others in the community (we give priority to elderly and disabled citizens) by providing them with everything they need to serve a Christmas dinner.

What is in a Christmas box?

An example of a Christmas box includes: 3 cans of  vegetables, 4 boxes of Mac and Cheese, 2 cans of evaporated milk, margarine, canned cranberry sauce, cake mix and frosting, flour, corn meal, sugar and one chicken.
